Queensland Floods

Queensland is currently experiencing a natural disaster almost unprecedented in Australia’s history. It is heart-breaking to see the devastation and heartache wrought by these terrible floods. Many tens of thousands of people have lost their possessions, their livelihoods and in some cases, their loved ones. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the emergency service personnel, SES volunteers, and volunteers from the wider community for the fantastic work they’ve done to save lives, property and to clean up from the effects of this disaster.

I urge you all to make a donation to the Premier’s Flood Appeal: the ways in which you can donate are listed below.

Premier's Flood Appeal

The Queensland Government is taking a monetary donations in a number of different ways. There's an online secure payment form, or donations can be made in person at any Queensland branch of the Bank of Queensland, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, ANZ, NAB or Suncorp. People with a credit card can ring 1800 219 028 or if you'd like to make a donation via internet banking you can get all the details here. Donations can also be made in person at my office.

Also, the Tasmanian Government has announced that it will match dollar-for-dollar any donations made to the Rotary Club of Tasmania up to $250 000. Contact details for your local club can be found here.
