The Transport Industry is the lifeblood of the Australian economy. We are all reliant on freight and delivery drivers.
The Transport Workers Union held their Delegate Training Conference in Launceston over the last two days. They learnt important information and skills to ensure their workplaces are safer and allow them to fight for fair pay and conditions for them and the colleagues.
As a member of the Transport Workers Union, it was my pleasure to speak to the delegates yesterday about my support for a National Strategy regarding Heavy Vehicle Rest Areas and how I have been pressuring Government to roll them out across our state. I also discussed raising concerns in the Senate about the safety and conditions for food delivery drivers, and the need to ensure safe conditions and appropriate remuneration and training.
