Whenever I attend Palliative Care Tasmania events it gives me immense pride to reflect on the role I played in fighting to save this wonderful organisation from closure (twice). They have an important role to play in educating Tasmanians about death, dying, grief and bereavement and promoting excellence in the delivery of palliative care, all of which contributes to a significant improvement in the care experience of Tasmanians with life-limiting illness.
Some highlights of tonight’s Annual General Meeting and Palliative Care Awards included:
- Jane Jupe’s award and acceptance of life membership of the organisation,
- Her Excellency the Hon. Barbara Baker AC’s acceptance of an invitation to serve as Patron of PCT, and
- catching up again with the amazing Colleen Johnstone, under whose leadership PCT continues to go from strength to strength.
Thank you to Government House for hosting the Awards. A huge congratulations to all the finalists, runners-up and winners and thank you for your ongoing commitment to quality palliative care.
