Second Annual Walk for Brain Cancer – Tasmania

On Sunday November 22, Dru Point was the venue for the second annual Walk for Brain Cancer in Tasmania. The day was a great success, more than 200 people attended and enjoyed the walk and we raised more than $27,000.  With more events like this one day we may be able to find a cure for this truly awful disease.

Senator Bilyk was honoured to open the greens for this season at Kingborough Bowls Club on Sunday September 27. After the ceremony she also enjoyed playing in the first game of the season for 2015.

Senate Arts Inquiry

At a hearing of the Senate Arts inquiry, I joined Senator Anne McEwen and Senator Glenn Lazarus in hearing from Arts organisations in Adelaide about how they are affected by the Government’s policy to rip $105 million from the Australia Council and direct it to a slush fund controlled by the Arts Minister.

Russel Morris Concert and Cure Brain Cancer Auction

 

On Sunday September 13 Russell Morris will be performing at the Home Hill Winery in Ranelagh. At this even there will be a silent auction to raise vital funds for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. Surf Lifesaving Awards Evening

Earlier this year Senator Bilyk had the very great pleasure of attending the Surf Lifesavers Awards Ceremony. The evening was a great success and rewarded some of the most commited volunteers in the Surf Life Saving Club.

Brave young man to raise funds for Brain Tumour Awareness

A very brave young man, Jordan Cowen, was diagnosed 10 months ago with a large benign brain tumour from a rare disease called MEN1. Since then he has been very passionate about increasing awareness of brain cancers and brain tumours.

At 12pm on Friday 1 May at St Virgils College Austins Ferry, Jordan, along with the principal Mr Damien Messer, and a few other young men will be shaving their heads to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA).

Russell Morris & Band raising funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation

On Sunday 13 September 2015 Russell Morris and Band will be performing at an All Aussie Music Day at Home Hill Winery. Local bands Rewound and band24seven will be support acts for Russell and his band. The songs of John Farnham, Daddy Cool, INXS, AC/DC, Angels and many more great Aussie artists will be covered by Rewound and band24seven.

Funds raised from an auction at the concert will be donated to support the Walk4BrainCancer Tasmanian event. You can book for the concert here.

The program starts at 11.00am and will continue to 3.00pm. Tickets can be booked here. Food and drinks are available on site. Please no BYO.

Once again this Australia Day I was proud to be the Patron of the Kingston Beach Regatta Associations A Day on The Beach Event. In total 12,000 people showed up and enjoyed a free day of fun in the sun!
